Q. Please tell us more about your company and its infrastructure?
The inception root of KTA Spindle Toolings goes long back in 1969 when our reverend uncle late Shri. Chandanmalji Chopda who made his humble new beginning in engineering field (till then we were known as family of Grocery Merchants) with a small setup named as M/s Kalpana Industries for manufacturing of precision auto components for engine and gear box of 2-wheeler and then 4 wheelers based in Hadapsar, Pune.
During my tenure at M/s Kalpana Industries while interacting & serving customers, we learnt that lots of machine tap breakage issues were faced and scraping the component as well. A thought strike in mind to find a solution for this as it was adversely affecting to the profitability of many small & medium scale industries.
When I visited “EMO” in Hannover, Germany in September 1981, I found a solution for tap breakage problems and decided to focus on this product development which gave strong foundation for starting of KTA Spindle Toolings.
Today, KTA Spindle Toolings has admirable state of art manufacturing plant having 70,000 sq.ft of area with built up 60,000 sq.ft. which includes Mfg plant, Sales & Admin building and a separate ware house which has storage capacity of 50,000 holders and accessories.
Presently we have latest high technology 150+ nos CNC machines which includes market leaders in grinding i.e Studer, Schaudt, Voumard and for machining operations AMS, Mori Seiki, Makino.
Q. Please brief us your journey of 45 years? What are milestones achieved during this journey?
I joined M/s Kalpana Industries in 1976 after my graduation as my beloved and respected uncles Shri Motilalji, Shri Fulchandji and my respected father Shri Zumbarlalji gave me required support & encouragement. They wanted me to follow the new path of my godly uncle late Shri Chandanmalji, who deeply influenced and enlighten me with his wisdom.
It was an enriching journey, when an idea was conceived and our willpower and faith gave us the require inertia to take it forward with excited teammates who joined in this progressive journey of KTA family, we met with following milestones on our way.
1969: My uncle late Shri Chandanmalji Chopda started M/s Kalpana Industries.
1969-76: Machining of Precision Auto Components for Automotive OEM.
1976: Myself Shri Vijay Zumbarlal Chopda joined M/s Kalpana Industries.
1981: Visited EMO in Hannover, Germany for solution of Tapping operations.
1982-83: Started Development of Tapping Products in existing facility.
1985: Incorporated new company Kalpana Tools & Appliances Pvt. Ltd.
1985: FIE FOUNDATION Award for Development of Tapping Chuck.
1986-96: Production of Tapping Chucks & Tap Adaptors.
1997: Second Generation Mr. Vipul Vijay Chopda joined the organisation.
1998: Mr. Vipul Chopda Started New Factory at Hinjewadi as KTA SPINDLE TOOLINGS.
1999-08: Continuous development & Production of Tool Holders for CNC Machines.
2008: Expanded the factory Area to 14000 Sq. Feet. Total covered area
10000 Sq. Feet.
2010: Started the development and production of HSK DIN 69893 holders.
2013: Established a new company in Germany joint venture by the name “HPCHO GmbH”.
2015: Started the development and production of Shrinking Toolholders.
2016: Total Area 70000 sq. ft., Strength of 200+ Manpower, 125 CNC Machines.
2017: Started production of Quick-change Tap Collet ER Type (Rigid)
(QCTC-ER).
2018: Production of Shrink Fit Holder Slim 3 Degree (SFH Slim 3 deg).
2018: Research and Development of Hydraulic Chuck, Precision Reduction Sleeves.
2019: Research and Development of
Anti -Vibration Face Mill Toolholders.
2020: Production and promotion of Hydraulic Expansion Toolholders & Reduction Sleeves.
2021: Added New 32 Machines (Studer, Schaudt, Voumard, Makino, AMS)Strength of 300+ Manpower, 150+ CNC Machines.
Q. What is Topline product portfolio?
KTA Offers complete product range in Toolholding which includes extensive range of Hydraulic Expansion Toolholders, Shrinking Toolholders, Synchro Tapping Chucks, Quick Change Tapping Chucks, Power Milling Chucks, Die & Mould Chucks, Anti Vibration Face Mill holders & Toolholding accessories.
KTA has complete program of Toolholding products and Accessories comprises of more than 4700+ products. Our focus products are Hydraulic toolholders, Synchro Tapping chucks and Slim Die & Mold Chucks.
Q. What quality measures have been taken during every phase of production?
We have developed our team with a belief “whatever we do either Turning, Milling, Grinding, any operation, we should measure it accurately”. We have this inheritance quality of checking and inspecting and reviewing every phase of production… which has penetrated in our working culture.
Therefore, Quality is the essence and back bone of what we do. We have come a long way from been precision auto components manufacturer to World’s most preferred Indian Toolholding Company.
Q. How do you perceive future of your product line?
Toolholding products are essential to hold a cutting tool in every metal & wood cutting industry so the growth in this sector is going to bring proportionate growth for us too.
Today there is overwhelming demand for our products at global customers additionally we have experienced a steep increase of volumes in last 2 years from domestic market as well. As after Covid-19, we experienced a significant shift in customer mindset with great initiative of Indian government like #AatmaNirbharBharat #VocalForLocal created added push for change of customers myth of quality product by its country of origin & therefore helping us to increase our rightful market share in India.
We have been considered as a preferred Indian Toolholding partner by many European major cutting tools companies over a decade now, but we have many countries where our business potential is unexplored. We would like to address the same.
Further we have developed a Triumph product in our range i.e Hydraulic Toolholding Systems and its extensive range, which we believe has immense unexplored potential as far as Indian industries are considered. We have opportunity to elevate the existing customers who are using conventional mechanical toolholders.
Q. What is your vision for your company for next 5 years?
KTA is a leader in manufacturing toolholding products in India. Further we are also one of leading companies who supplies its toolholders in private label to world’s leading cutting tools companies and catalogue houses worldwide.
We have won the trust of our international customers who are major OEM from Europe. Today we enjoy strong volumes from all our oversea customers. We are in process of developing Slim Hydraulic Toolholding. In upcoming years Polygonal Toolholding products (popularly known as CAPTO) will also be added in our portfolio. We will reach to many unexplored regions and customers. We will concentrate our efforts to create pull from all the potential customers in metal cutting industries.
We see KTA SPINDLE TOOLINGS to become one of renowned leading global player in Toolholding industry under visionary leaders Mr. Vipul V. Chopda & Mrs Nidhi Vipul Chopda.
